Sponsored Post Disclosure
Last updatedIf a brand pays you or gives you product, the people who see your posts need to know. This page is plain-language guidance.
For riders
When you are paid, or given product or a discount code, say so clearly in every sponsored post.
- Put #ad or #sponsored at the start of the post. Do not bury it among other hashtags or at the end.
- Say it in the post itself. For a video, say it out loud and show it on screen, not only in the description.
- Do this on every post that features the brand, not only the first one.
Rules about this come from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and similar bodies in other countries. They can apply to you as well as to the brand. You can read the FTC's guidance for endorsers on the FTC website.
For brands
Brands must not ask a rider to leave out a disclosure, hide it or make it hard to notice. Brands should tell their riders about this guidance and make sure their sponsored posts follow it.
Where you will see this
We show a short reminder when a rider accepts an offer and on the contract page, with a link to this page.
